Crafts and design

What we do internationally

We work to support, promote, and raise the profile of Danish crafts and design internationally by supporting and coordinating the Danish presence at international design events.

Funding programmes

The Danish Arts Foundation's Committee for Craft and Design runs a number of both national and international funding programmes.

These funding programmess are intended for designers, craftspeople, museums, galleries, design organisations, and international curators who promote Danish and international crafts and design in Denmark and Danish crafts and design internationally.

We fund the following areas:

We wish to promote the visibility of Danish contemporary crafts and design on the international scene by funding crafts and design projects in Denmark and abroad:

  • Danish contemporary craftspeople and designers’ travel, accommodation and fees in connection with an exhibition or a show of their works and related events outside of Denmark.
  • The transport and insurance of exhibited works.
  • The creation of exhibitions, shows and fairs.
  • The production of catalogues and other information material produced in connection with an exhibition or a show of Danish contemporary crafts and design, aiming to increase the visibility of Danish contemporary crafts and design on the international scene.

Travel grants and residency programmes

Furthermore, we provide travel grants and residency programmes aiming to provide the possibilities for craftspeople and designers who wish to go abroad and get inspiration, make collaborations, participate in seminars and conferences, and strengthen networking and dialogue between the Danish and international crafts and design scene.
