Out of the blue

A boy lives alone with a cactus in a house, where everything breathes peace and quiet. Everything is in perfect order, the garden arranged in beddings straight as a line. But then one day a large, brown bear rocks up – apparently out of the blue.

Without wagging a finger or offering any pedagogic solutions, this book is pure poetry instead; beautiful words, rhythm and alliteration, bound by precisely drawn lines that unfold in a dance! An exquisite work for all ages. 

About the author and illustrator 

Rebecca Bach-Lauritzen (b. 1976) is a graduate of the Danish Writer’s School for Children’s Literature. She is an author and journalist.

Anna Margrethe Kjærgaard (b. 1972) is an illustrator living and working on the island of Bornholm. Her work as illustrator was awarded the Danish Ministry of Culture’s Illustrator Prize in 2015 for the book Mit hus (My House), published in the same year by Jensen & Dalgaard, Copenhagen.
