DIVA is an artist-in-residence program, the general purpose of which is to develop the Danish arts scene through the dialogue that arises when foreign artists encounter the Danish arts milieu.

The DIVA program also makes it possible for artistic and cultural institutions and other professionals in the field to invite foreign artists and artist’s groups to reside in Denmark for extended periods of time: Varying from 14 days to 3 months.

For example, the artist invited may participate in: Projects, productions, the development of artistic works, education programs, guest lectures, artist talks, workshops, master classes, dialogue meetings, etc.

How your application will be evaluated

<xml> </xml>

In any assessment, emphasis will be placed on supporting projects in which a professional host creates contact between the visiting professional artist and a number of interested professionals on the Danish arts scene.

The activities must be:

  • The host is responsible for finding housing for the artist and, where relevant, entering into a rental agreement.
  • The host shall assist the artist in obtaining a visa, if necessary.  In this connection, the host may request a declaration from the Danish Arts Agency that the residency is supported by the Danish Arts Council.
  • During the artist’s residency in Denmark, the host shall help resolve any practical problems that may arise.
  • It is recommended that the host pay the residency stipend each month in advance.
  • The host shall submit a report in the form of a financial accounting and a brief evaluation.

  • The housing must have  its own kitchen, bath and toilet
  • The housing may not be inhabited by others during the lease period
  • For shorter residencies, hotel apartments or similar lodgings may be used.
