Jexper Holmen to be composer-in-residence with the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival
25th of February 2011
This year, Europe’s leading festival for new music, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (HCMF), has signed a several year contract with the Danish composer Jexper Holmen. This arrangement is part of a wider collaboration with a number of actors on the Danish music scene. Jexper Holmen’s residency will run until 2013 and is funded by the Danish Arts Foundation. According to the contract, Jexper Holmen is expected to write four works, ranging from pieces to be played by young local amateur musicians to works for circulation to the festival’s network of professional ensembles.
The composer-in-residence contract between Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Jexper Holmen and the Danish Arts Foundation will run until 2012. During the period of the contract the festival will also facilitate collaborations between the composer and the University of Huddersfield, the London Sinfonietta, the Australian ELISION Ensemble and the Wundergrund Festival. Alongside all of this, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival will be instituting a longer-term collaboration on artistic exchange and co-productions with such organisations as SNYK, Wundergrund and the SPOR Festival.
