The Danish Arts Council supports art that is produced and promoted professionally to children and young people. One of the Council's four priorities are children and young peoples encounter with art. The Danish Arts Council supports through its affiliated committees in visual arts, literature, music and performing arts to a large extent the production and dissemination of art, aimed directly at children and young people. These include support for children's theater, dance, school concerts and children's literature.
The Council is also providing support directly through three funding programmes, VAPSI (Visiting artist programme for schools and institutions), Dance for Children and 'Culture Packages'. Through this the council ensures opportunity for children and young people in their daily lives, both as participants and as spectators, to experience the world of art at a high qualitative level, to provide insight into professional artistic processes and to be part of evolving interaction with professional artists.
