Art Criticism

Accessibility and visibility of art are largely ensured through the Danish Arts Councils affiliated committees that provide support for both production and distribution of art, but also to a wide range of dissemination activities such as lectures, magasines, websites etc.

Mass media and its users are under great change. Where art until a few years ago filled the Danish Broad Casting Channel (DR) and the major dailies, the council believes that arts critisim today is a low priority in many newsrooms. It has therefore become markedly more difficult to visualise or qualified to debate art through the traditional media.

The Danish Arts Council will take steps to promote interest in and development of the serious arts- and cultural journalism and the committees will break with past practice and open up to provide grants for networked information, documentation and publications.
