On January 1, 2012, the Danish Arts Agency merged with the Heritage Agency of Denmark and the Danish Agency for Libraries and Media. These three agencies became one entity – the Danish Agency for Culture, which shall in the future ensure Danish culture a high professional profile in Denmark as well as abroad.
The new Danish Agency for Culture will strengthen the interplay between art, cultural heritage, museums, libraries, and media and make use of strong professional environments for the benefit of the public at large, as well as the many and various interested parties of the former agencies.
The new Agency for Culture will become the secretariat for the Danish Arts Council and the Danish Arts Foundation – just as the Danish Arts Agency was.
