What we do
We provide funding for the promotion abroad of works and projects by Danish artists and for exhibitions of foreign art in Denmark. Grants from this fund are administered by the Danish Arts Foundation's Commitee for Visual Arts Project Funding.
Artists, museums, galleries, exhibition spaces and art professionals can seek funding for projects which clearly and qualitatively assist in enhancing the international profile of, and career opportunities for, the Danish artist(s) involved. Emphasis is placed on the ability, in the long term, of the works or projects to make their contribution to the international process of dialogue and exchange.
In order to promote the international careers and network-building of Danish visual artists and curators, we work closely with local operators on Artist-in-Residence programmes in the following cities: Berlin, Istanbul, New York, Paris and Beijing.
Besides providing direct support through various funds and residency programmes, we also support the more general promotion of Danish art abroad and the exchange of Danish and international art. We invite curators and other art professionals to take part in visiting programmes, provide information on the opportunities for research trips to Denmark and on Danish Artist-in-Residence programmes, and organise the Danish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale
