The Danish Arts Foundation’s design exhibition MINDCRAFT15 will be presented at Designmuseum Danmark this autumn. This is the very first time that MINDCRAFT will be shown in Denmark. The exhibition will give you an opportunity to see 14 new works from 19 of Denmark’s leading designers and craftspeople, and to go exploring in a dramatic stage set that adds an entirely new dimension to the interior of the museum.

For eight consecutive years MINDCRAFT has presented the very best of Danish craft and design in Milan. But this is the very first time that the exhibition will be shown in Denmark. This year, the exhibition has been curated by the Danish-Italian design duo, GamFratesi. During the Milan Design Week, it was awarded the prestigious Milano Design Award. GamFratesi have based the exhibition concept on the gap between mind and craft, adding an exhibition theme, which they call “In Between”. They focus on the field of tension in between mind and craft: from conceptual to craft-oriented design.

“Over the years, the MINDCRAFT exhibitions in Milan have generated major international attention in the design industry, and for a long time there has been a desire to show MINDCRAFT in Denmark. So we are delighted that the Danish audience now has an opportunity to see the exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark,” says Astrid Krogh, Chair of the Danish Arts Foundation’s Committee for Crafts and Design Project Funding.

Designmuseum Danmark focus on the here and now

In the course of the next few years, Designmuseum Danmark aims to be the venue where people can explore all aspects of contemporary Danish design.

“For some time we have lacked a place that represents the whole spectrum of the Danish design and crafts scene. The MINDCRAFT exhibition will mark the poetic overture to a series of exhibitions and events, which will turn the museum into a forum for debate on the future of Danish design. It will be followed later in the year by a permanent, research-based exhibition called Danish Design Now!” says the museum’s Head of Exhibitions and Collections, Christian Holmsted Olesen.
